I’m just a boy, standing in front of an academic discipline, asking it to love me.

I’d like to think that I have proven my commitment. I went to grad school in my forties and committed over ten years to getting a PhD in history at the University of Oklahoma in 2019 under the direction of David Wrobel and Anne Hyde (historians I emulate even while falling well short of their talent and ability). But the historical profession has been as capricious with me as it has with many other historians. I am currently in my second stint as a Visiting Assistant Professor, this time at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. But there has been some good. I signed a contract to complete my first book (which will come out of my dissertation) with the University of Arizona Press. And THAT is the reason for this blog…
